Honeywell Hvac Service Assistant
A common mix-up prevails that the Honeywell HVAC Service Assistant is human, but in reality it is a sophisticated piece of equipment that serves a variety of important functions. It provides the HVAC technicians with the detailed diagnostics in the field. In 2003 the Assistant won the AHR Expo Innovation Award which is given to technology that serves to increase productivity in the field. The patented technology used by this piece of machinery accurately estimates the efficiency of air conditioning units. It also identifies opportunities for energy conservation and details the benefits of such conservation.
There are two main readings you will need to be familiar with when using the Service Assistant. One is the Efficiency Index, or EI. EI estimates how efficient an air conditioner is in percentage form as opposed to the Benchmark Performance Standard. Capacity Index, or CI, estimates the capacity of the air conditioner also as a percentage of what it could be if it were serviced to the Benchmark Performance Standard. The Benchmark Performance Standard would be 100 percent for the EI and CI readings. An example would be if the EI rating was 70 percent. This means if the unit was serviced it could be brought up to 100 percent which would be 30 percent more efficient.
The display of the Service Assistant is easy to read. The EI and CI values are displayed in the upper left area of the screen. On the top right you will see the annual runtime, current power and annual energy cost savings if the unit was brought up to standards. The diagnostic message is seen on the bottom portion of the display screen. This piece of machinery can be used with a computer that has Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Excel. There are many benefits a technician will get when he or she uses the Assistant.
Your contractor should have a Honeywell SVAC Service Assistant if they are going to be testing your air conditioner. If they don't, they will likely have a comparable piece of equipment. Innovations such as this can help you save a great deal on the cost of cooling your home. There are other ways to cut costs, including only cooling the rooms you live in most of the time and wearing cooler fabrics like light cotton rather than lowering the temperature of the air conditioner. The use of fans in your home can also help circulate cool air and keep costs down.
