Home Heating Radiator

A conduction style heating element called radiator uses hot water or oil with metal to produce heat and discharge it into the room. These radiators can be free standing or installed into the wall. There are benefits and drawbacks to using a home heating radiator. One of the benefits is that radiators stay hot a long time once they're heated. Even after you turn them off, they continue to emit heat for an extended period before cooling down. Of course, if they take a long time to cool down they also take a long time to heat up, so keep that in mind.

The heat produced by this method is comfortable and efficient. However there are certain reasons why you may not want a radiator in your home. If you have kids or pets a radiator may not be the best choice. Older radiators may not be working at their optimal level. Not only that, but a radiator is often a visual blemish in the room. They take up space and aren't the most attractive items to have displayed in your living room. There are options to having a radiator.

For radiant heat that is even more efficient and kept out of sight, consider hydronic heating. Hydronic heating uses a hot water boiler which pumps hot water through a network of small pipes. These pipes can be located under floors and behind walls. You get even heat, no risk of burning yourself on the radiator and no ugly metal thing sitting in your living room. You can heat floors, walls, pools, hot tubs, walkways, basically your entire home inside and out with a hydronic heat system.

If you are shopping for a radiator there are all kinds of advanced models on the market today. You may want a home heating radiator that is labeled high efficiency. If you're not sure what kind of heating system is best for you, speak with an experienced HVAC contractor in your area.
